Reduction In Gas And Electric Prices Welcomed

Labour has welcomed SSE Airtricty's and Electric Ireland's cut in electricity and gas prices.

SSE Airtricity is to cut its electric prices by 2% from 11 January 2016 and Electric Ireland is to reduce its gas prices by 2.5% fron 01 January next year.

Minister for Energy, Alex White, TD, said: "The announcement of further energy price reductions from SSE Airtricity and Electric Ireland is a welcome development and an indication that competition is working for customers.

"It is hugely important that consumers shop around to ensure that they get the best possible price and service deal and I would encourage them to do so. There are many value offers in the market from suppliers, including significant discounts."
