East Antrim Primary Schools Awarded Funding For Improvement Works

Three primary schools in East Antrim have secured funding for upgrade and improvement works to be carried out.

Glenann Primary School in Cushendall has been awarded £114,500 for a replacement mobile classroom, £97,900 has been approved for a DDA pupil specific modular POD scheme at Carrickfergus Grammar School and £12,000 capital funding has also been made available for a traffic management system at St Nicholas' Primary School in Carrickfergus.


Education Minister Peter Weir said: "It is estimated that over £51 million will have been invested in the minor works programme in the 2016/17 financial year. This investment will enable improvements to be carried out across the schools estate, positively impacting on pupils, teachers and school staff."

Elsewhere, two primary schools in South Down are to benefit from a £274,150.56 investment under the Department of Education's minor works scheme.

£155,372.56 has been approved for a new lobby extension and refurbishment at St Mary's Primary School in Dunsford and St Malachy's Primary School, Kilclief will benefit from £118,778 for replacement mobile and provision of staff toilet.
