The announcement refers to the publication of the Draft Statutory Orders which will pave the way for the provision of a bypass which represents a potential investment in the range of £40m to £50m.
Transport Minister Danny Kennedy said: "The proposed scheme involves the provision of a single carriageway bypass, 3.1km in length around the eastern periphery of Ballynahinch, Co. Down.

"It includes both northbound and southbound overtaking opportunities and the provision of a grade-separated junction with the B7 Crossgar Road and a shared cycle/footway to the western (town) side.
"The bypass is expected to make a significant contribution to the improvement of traffic conditions and the conditions generally in Ballynahinch town centre and I would encourage everyone with an interest in the area to get involved and take part in the public consultation process."
