I had a very upsetting and unprofessional experience during a BER assessment visit.

The assessor said she would be outside first, so I thought I had time to get my children changed out of their school clothes. Instead, she came inside and began opening/entering areas such as the utility/hot press without clearly explaining or asking first.

I understand a BER assessment requires access around the house, but basic communication and respect for privacy are still important, especially with young children present.

I asked her politely to wait until my children were changed and to please ask before opening doors or entering areas. In front of my children, she then left and while leaving made a personal comment: “No wonder A. broke up with you.”

I found this completely inappropriate, rude, hurtful and unprofessional. I would not recommend this assessor to come to your home.
