PEFC [Ireland] Ltd

Welcome to PEFC Ireland, the National Governing Body of the PEFC Council in Ireland.

Formed in 2008, and sponsored by the Irish Timber Growers Association, PEFC Ireland administers the PEFC Council's schemes and initiatives in Ireland, and promotes sustainable forest management and the use of credibly certified timber and wood-based products.


About us
The world's forests are being depleted at an alarming rate. Deforestation is directly responsible for about 20% of global carbon emissions. As the world's largest forest certification programme, PEFC provides a credible guarantee to consumers of timber and wood-based products that they have been produced sustainably and meet exacting internationally agreed standards.

Standard Setting
The forest certification process involves an audit of management practices against a published standard. PEFC Ireland is coordinating the process of drafting a Forest Management Certification Standard for Ireland, and the standard will be submitted to the PEFC Council on completion.
