Sheet Pile Installation

At Burnside, we design, supply and install interlocking Larssen sheet piling retaining walls for both temporary and permanent applications.
Where required as a permanent wall, these are often clad with facing brick for aesthetic purposes.
Although usually more costly than King Post walls, sheet piling can offer advantages in poorer soil conditions as the lateral earth pressure is spread over the continuous wall foundation (embedment) length rather than concentrated in discreet foundation centres.


King Post Installation

At Burnside Sheet Piling Contractors, we design, supply and install King Post systems to meet UK standards and/ or our customers particular specifications. Attention to finishing detail during design and construction leaves timber clad walls with a professional finished look, for which it is advisable to choose an expert in this field. King Post system walls comprise universal column structural steelwork sections, set into deep augered, insitu-cast concrete pile foundations (or King Piles). The foundation depth, diameter and post spacing’s require to be designed to suit site requirements and ground conditions. Secondary infill material is then spanned between column flanges.


Cofferdamn Installation

At Burnside we, specialise in Cofferdams temporary work applications. Cofferdams are simply an extension of the principle of a sheet pile retaining walls, as the soil has to be retained. This would be used to construct a reinforced concrete sub structure or the installations of underground tanks. This allows the added structural integrity benefit to be gained by propping opposite walls off each other using sheet piles and support frames. This offers a reduction in the embedded depths required allowing deeper excavations to be supported.
