Structural Cellular Beams
Structural cellular beams are used extensively in the engineering and construction sector as they achieve long spans yet minimise the amount of steel needed. We offer customers traditional high quality, cellular and castellated beams right up to 26m long, but having realised the importance of such beams in sustainable construction, we have now developed our own brand – The Herculean – the next generation of cellular beam.

Designed to meet the demanding standards of modern architecture and construction, SC4’s Herculean Beam is the culmination of a 7-year collaboration with the leading academic in the field of cellular beams. This partnership has produced the first innovation for 15 years in perforated beams, providing unique

structural steel beams suitable for:

SC4 Sawing Service
Our multiple CNC cut/drill lines can process a wide range of steel sections for your projects with excellent lead times and accredited superior quality. Whether it is beams, columns, hollow sections, angles, channels or special sections, they can all be processed to NSSS tolerances and higher as per your exact requirements.

Hi Def 3D Plasma Profiling

SC4 Coping Robot
Our state-of-the-art coping robot has been commissioned predominantly to produce cellular beams. The hi-def plasma profiling robot makes portholes in steel sections resulting in a high quality, structural cellular beam. SC4 are now able to offer customers cellular beams competitively in high volumes.

As well as improving the services previously offered, the addition of our coping robot means we can now also offer;

• Double mitres

• Web openings on beams and plate girders


• Weld preps including notches and rat holes

SC4 Plate Fittings

SC4s CNC plate fittings machinery processes 5mm – 80mm thicknesses up to and including 3m x 6m sheet sizes. It handles light to heavy plate for thermal cutting, marking, drilling, tapping, milling and bevelling, with unprecedented productivity and accuracy. All of our steel plate is sourced from approved mills and carry full certification, meaning you always receive the highest quality material for your project.

Working in collaboration with your supplied NC data, our technical team can nest and allocate your material (free issue or full supply) for best yield, against erectable phases or sequential lots to suit your workshop and site schedules.

Our technical team can use provided NC data (DSTV or XML) to automatically programme which is both cost effective and time efficient. Other formats (DWG or DXF) can be manually programmed in-house and added to your estimate if that’s a requirement of your contract.

Cambering

SC4’s in-house cambering machine can offer pre-cambers to your exact specifications. We can camber sawn-to-length precamber steel beams without the requirement for any ‘green material’.
This saves substantial time and reduces excess material wastage. Our experienced steel specialists can work with typical variations of steel elasticity that different rollings and mills give and produce a recognised superior quality camber.

Tee Sections

SC4 has a patented splitting line that can handle structural tee sections up to 1000mm wide and produces what is considered an industry leading superior quality Tee. This is achieved by using a COLD SPLITTING process that eliminates unnecessary heat input that oxy fuel splitting causes throughout the cutting area (Heat Affected Zone).
This patented cold splitting process minimises (often eliminates) web/stalk distortion which makes final straightening simple, quick and produces our superior quality Tee. This process can also be used to split hollow sections, reduce flanges on beams/columns and trim legs on angles to make bespoke sections.

Quality Fabrication

SC4 fabricate structural steel buildings for a wide variety of sectors: multi-storey car parks, commercial buildings, schools, rail, bridges and other defence and energy infrastructure up to an including Execution Class 4.
To ensure your project is completed to specification and schedule, we only employ time served and multi-skilled fabricators and welders. Meaning you will always have a specialist team of experts working on your project.
SC4 are an accredited steel fabrication facility and certified to BS EN 1090-1/2 up to Execution Class 4 (the highest achievable quality standard, which ensures the most stringent set of controls, necessary on safety critical structures that would have a high consequence of failure). All structural steel products produced here are UKCA Marked.
