Over 5,000 construction workers and BER assessors have registered to carry out works under the Irish Government's Home Energy Saving Scheme.
Energy Minister Eamon Ryan has urged householders to avail of the scheme, revealing that more than half of the budget has already been applied for.
According to the government almost €33m in grants towards insulation and energy efficiency has been committed, for over 27,000 people nationwide.
Of the eight measures available, roof and cavity wall insulation have been the most popular, the Minister said.
"The primary aim of this scheme is to help homeowners save money, while at the same time saving energy - on the cost of the works in the short term, and on their heating bills in the long-term."
Mr Ryan said the scheme is also "about refocusing the construction sector, and creating new opportunities for our tradespeople".
"It's about green jobs. It's about 2663 BER and 2260 construction workers, being registered as at August this year.
"As winter approaches and while there is still significant funding available, now is the time to apply," he added.
