Consultants have been appointed to produce a walking and cycling strategy for Galway city and its surrounding area.
Galway City Council and Galway County Council said the objective of this work is to provide a clear plan for the future development of cycling and pedestrian networks in the region.
Plans will focus on providing safe, attractive infrastructure which will encourage greater use of sustainable travel modes for trips to work, school, the shops and for recreation.
To identify the existing barriers to walking and cycling in Galway, a consultation event will be held at Eyre Square Shopping Centre on Saturday November 7th from 10am to 4pm.
In addition, an online survey is available on the city council for those who wish to get involved.
