A new civil and commercial mediation service is to be launched in Co. Limerick this month.

MidWest Mediation Services says it offers an "efficient and cost effective" alternative to litigating disputes in the Court.

Speaking at the launch, Accredited Mediator, Martina Murphy said that while litigation has it’s place and will never go away, mediation is proving a better alternative for certain disputes.

"Mediation can be arranged at short notice where there is a pressing need to reach agreement at a reasonable price," she said

"Examples of the types of disputes dealt with by the new service include disagreements between management companies and house owners, companies and customers, landlord and tenants and employers and employees."
