Plans to build an €18m residential and retail development in Co. Dublin have been scrapped.
A nursing home and a primary care unit, however, may now replace the project in Swords.
The Ardrium Partnership was granted planning permission for an urban neighbourhood centre in 2007. The project, which included apartments and offices, was to be built on the junction of Bridge Street and Church Street.
However, the applicants have now submitted a revised scheme and are seeking permission to replace the residential element with a nursing home, primary care facility and independent living accommodation.
The new scheme retains the general footprint of the previous plans, with regards to scale and height.
"The scheme meets the overall strategy set out in the 'Strategic Vision Document' for Swords and also provides sustainable uses that will attract significant employment opportunities," according to the applicants.
A pedestrian footbridge over the Ward River and public amenity river walk are included in the plans, which now await the green light from local authorities.
