Tenders are being sought for the building of a major Co Donegal leisure facility.
Councillors from Stranorlar Electoral Area (SEA) have this month voted for the process to get underway so that bids to construct the Ballybofey and Stranorlar Swimming Pool can be made.
Tenders must be received no later than 25 February with the council already applying for planning approval for the €8m extension to the Finn Valley Athletic Centre.
It will include the 25 metre, five-lane swimming pool as well as a kids pool and a sauna and steam room and associated changing facilities.
The process has been slow with the original motion to raise finance being passed nearly 40 years ago.
The now rapidly evolving plan includes the acquisition of 6.6 acres of land adjacent to the existing leisure facility, which will also be used for replacement car parking.
This is being sought on the basis of a Compulsory Purchase Order.
