Five children of a prominent Irish senator have secured judgement orders for more than €7.3m against a developer over his failure to repay loans provided as part of north Dublin development.
Members of Senator Feargal Quinn's family - Donal Quinn, Zoe Quinn, Gilliane Quinn, Stephen Quinn and Eamonn Quinn - brought the proceedings against Patrick Doyle of Malahide, reports the Irish Independent.
The loans were given as part of "mezzanine" finance for the development.
The judge at the Commercial Court was told yesterday that a settlement had been reached and orders for judgement for some €1.477m each for all five plaintiffs could be entered, on consent, against Mr Doyle.
The plaintiffs had each agreed the advancement of €1m loans to Mr Doyle in November 2006. They claimed the agreement stipulated that they would be repaid the sum, plus interest, by May 2008.
