Sainsbury's Submit Dundonald Application

Retain giant Sainsbury's has submitted a planning application to build a new store in Co. Down.

The company said the proposed 60,000 sq feet store in Dundonald on the outskirts of east Belfast would create approximately 500 jobs upon completion and around 250 during construction.


"We are delighted to have reached the planning stage for a new state of the art Sainsbury's in Dundonald," said Chris Templeman, Head of Property Development at Sainsbury's.

"If successful, not only will the scheme as a whole provide more than 700 jobs throughout the process but it shows a great commitment by us and the developers to the Northern Ireland economy and the emerging economic recovery."

The project also includes plans for a 120-bedroom hotel on the site.
