Kingspan Strike Off

Members of the trade union SIPTU members at Kingspan in Kingscourt, Co Cavan have deferred strike action which was due last week.

The company has agreed to withdraw the threat of lay-offs and normal working arrangements has therefore resumed this week.

SIPTU has sought further discussions with the company on a number of outstanding issues of concern to members.

In a statement SIPTU Branch Organiser, Declan Ferry, confirmed that the Union has deferred all industrial/strike action.

"We have agreed to defer strike action. For the avoidance of doubt, this includes normal working on the Panel Line to include staggered breaks and normal overtime working.

"We welcome the company's decision to withdraw the threat of lay-offs.

"We are again requesting the company to have the two outstanding issues – redundancy and new entrants' rates of pay – dealt with by the Labour Court," Declan Ferry said.

The company issued protective notice to 91 production and engineering staff at Kingspan Ltd's insulated panel manufacturing plant in the county.

As a result, the workers faced being laid off in a row that centres on a long-drawn out process to agree savings at the plant.
