Welcoming the two new facilities, the Lord Mayor of Cork Cllr Dara Murphy said: "These libraries represent a major civic investment into these vibrant local communities. We look forward to everyone enjoying their facilities, browsing their shelves and borrowing their books."

Cork City Manager, Joe Gavin added: "Cork’s literary and cultural tradition is one of the cities strongest characteristics. These libraries are a testament to the continued belief of Cork City Council in the value and power of the knowledge economy, for this and future generations."

Director of Services, Recreation, Amenity and Cultural directorate, Valerie O’Sullivan said: "Blackpool and Douglas now have centrally located new library facilities serving all of their communities. Libraries are a core part of local authorities work, and I would like to thank all of those involved in making these new libraries a reality."
