Plans to rejuvenate Carlow town centre have been outlined.
Donnybrook Properties has revealed that plans are afoot to have the new development open for business by Christmas 2011.
Images depicting how the site will look like when it has been completed have been released and Mr Duigan said talks are "at an advanced stage" with two other large department stores to join Penneys, which will be the development's anchor store.
The entire consruction project is estimated to cost between €75 million and €80 million and will include shops, apartments, a new car park, office space and other amenities. Once completed, it is believed that 600 full-time jobs will be created.
A further 300 jobs are expected to be created in the construction phase of the project, with John Sisk acting as contractors on the site. Currently, work is being held up due to an appeal in the planning process.
