Major construction works are to start in the next few months on an extension to a Co Cavan college facility - with interested contractors being asked to make a bid for the work.
The works at Virginia College, will entail constructing an extension over two floors to the existing school along with site developments works including alterations to existing site services and landscaping.
Contractors are scheduled to commence mid October and have said that a completion date of approx nine months is anticipated with general building and contractors being now invited to apply for the work.
Contractors who wish to be considered for inclusion on the approved restricted tender list for the above project must complete the suitability assessment questionnaire and the contractors will then be selected.
The extension will cater for school's increasing number of students, which is expected to rise from its current figure of 600 to 800 with the new building also having an art room, a guidance suite and a computer room.
The project team includes the architect, Gaffney and Cullivan as well as fellow architects, Patrick E. Gaffney.
