Detailed plans have been submitted to Galway Council by Coir na Gaoithe Teoranta for the construction of a wind farm at Lettergunnet, Co Galway.
The plans outline a ten-year planning permission to construct a wind farm in the townlands of Lettergunnet and Derrycrih.
The proposed development will consist of amendments and alterations to the previously permitted wind farm at this location (previously permitted under pl. ref. 09/1326, PL07.234861).
The alterations and amendments to the previous permitted wind farm include the relocation of two of the turbine locations previously permitted and the upgrading of all wind turbines on site to have a maximum hub height of 78m, rotor diameter of 82m and total tip height of 119m and the construction of three additional turbines (each with a maximum hub height of 78m, rotor diameter of 82m and total tip height of 119m).
It will also increase in the size of the permitted electricity sub station to include two control buildings.
The overall proposed development will constitute the provision of 10 wind turbines and includes underground electricity connection to the site boundary, associated equipment, all ancillary site works and facilitating works to the existing road junction.
This application is accompanied by an Environmental Impact Statement (gross floor space Control Building/Substation 117 square metres).
