The Department of Transport has announced that construction works will begin at An Daingean (Dingle) Fishery Harbour Centre, Co Kerry today, Wednesday 17th November.
The construction works will take place in the Western Basin. They will involve the installation of 17 steel piles, removal of existing piles, and installation of a new access linkspan.
The works are being advanced by civil engineering crews working from two barges using heavy civil engineering plant and machinery, work vessels and platforms. Divers will be employed on site.
For safety reasons, mariners are requested to proceed slowly and with caution in the approach channel to the Western Basin and to give the works a wide berth.
Wave-wash from vessels should be avoided.
The work is expected to be ongoing until mid-January 2011.
