A new, two-storey 12-classroom National School, costing €2.3m is to be built at Kenmare, Co Kerry.
The website, www.unearthore.com said the main contractor Midland Construction has been appointed for the works involved in the construction of the school at Railway Road, Kenmare.
Floor area will measure approximately 1,879 square metres.
The plans involve the demolition of two existing national schools, together with new boundary treatments, parking and external play areas and all ancillary siteworks.
Main construction work is due to commence on site during mid-March and the contract period is estimated at 12 months.
Sub-contractors will be appointed shortly with the architect being O'Sullivan Campbell and the consulting engineer, Niall Fitzsimons and Company with Matt O'Mahony and Associates Ltd.
The building will have a roof of Kingspan insulated roof panels and windows that are thermally brocken low 'E' argon double glazed polyester powder coated aluminium frames. The walls exterior will be painted plaster.
