The planned construction and completion of the N86 Annascaul to Gortbreagoge Road Improvement Scheme in Co Kerry has moved on a stage.
The scope of works required by Kerry County Council consists of all construction activities associated with the construction and completion of the N86 Annascaul to Gortbreagoge Road Improvement Scheme.
The subject scheme (N86 Annascaul to Gortbreagoge) forms part of the N86 Tralee to An Daingean Road Improvement Scheme, the design of which is currently being progressed by the Kerry NRDO as a Low Volume National Secondary Road scheme.
The N86 Annascaul to Gortbreagoge scheme extends from the eastern end of Annascaul village in the West to a recently improved section of the N86 in the townland of Gortbreagoge, approximately 4.2km to the East.
The cross section proposed for this location is a Type three single carriageway with one-way cycleway/footpath at each side.
The proposed scheme will involve, for the most part, substantially on-line improvements, with approximately 0.5km of off-line realignment to remove two sub-standard curves.
The scheme will also include four local road junctions, a number of private roads/entrances, widening/replacement of two structures at existing watercourses, widening of two existing stock underpasses, the widening/replacement of a number of culverts at existing watercourses, and the construction of any necessary accommodation works.
The works will also include the tie-in to the existing footpath network in Annascaul Village in the West and the tie-in to the existing N86 at Gortbreagoge in the East.
According to www.unearthore.com/, the project went to pre-tender on 9 March.
