A third party appeal has been submitted against a decision by An Bord Pleanala to approve a plan by the Sisters of Mercy Western Province in for the construction of a new convent.
The proposal is for land to the south of Taylors Hill Road and to the east of Rosary Lane, Townland of Pollnarooma East, Galway.
According to the website www.unearthore.com the planned new convent will consist of 43 single bedrooms with communal ancillary accommodation together with external bin store and shed and all associated siteworks, landscaping and services.
The plans also include the provision of 43 surface car parking spaces.
The two and three-storey convent is to be accessed by extending the existing Croi Nua access road off Rosary Lane
The case is due to be decided by July 28 and is awaited by the Project Team, including Architect O'Neill O'Malley Ltd and Arup Consulting Engineers.
