Rural Clifden in Co Galway is to get an educational boost with news that the local school is planning to build a new, two-storey and part three-storey school building.
According to the website www.unearthore.com the new Clifden Community School will be 3,900 sqm and be developed along with a new school entrance and associated internal access roads, parking spaces, landscaping and drainage works including an on site waste water treatment plant, while the existing school is to remain operational.
Then, the demolition of the existing school building and associated pre-fabricated classroom structures will take place.
This means that particular construction management constraints will apply due to works adjacent to operational school.
The location of site is also adjacent to a Special Area of Conservation, so extra care will be taken in that respect too.
The architect is De Blacam and Meagher and the consulting engineer is White Young Green.
