Dublin Water Supply Gets Huge Upgrade

A major drinking water schemes is being proposed for the Dublin area.

The scope of the works required will include the execution of civil engineering works for drinking water at various locations around Co Dublin.

Fingal County Council (Fingal), acting as a lead buyer on behalf of itself and Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, is engaging in a competitive process for the establishment of a multi-operator framework agreement for a project involving civil engineering works for drinking water schemes.

According to the website www.unearthore.com the framework agreement will be established on the basis of a competition for an initial contract for rehabilitation water main works at the Rath Lane and Kileek Lane Water main Scheme in the Fingal area.

The scope of the works required under the framework will include the execution of civil engineering works for drinking water, including water main rehabilitation and new works, including predominantly laying of new water mains, and ancillary work in upgrade works in public roadways; and minor works at upgrading water assets such as reservoirs and pumping stations as well as replacement of services from the main up to the customer's property.

The works will include permanent reinstatement of surfaces in all contracts.

It is envisaged that works under the framework agreement will require Specialist skills in the area of Trenchless Technology Pipe Laying Works, e.g. directional drilling, pipe bursting, pipe welding and moling of small diameter service pipes

The initial contract under the framework will be for the laying of a replacement water main on the Rath Lane and Kileek Lane in the Swords electoral Area of Fingal County Council.

The contract will involve the laying of 3730m of 125mm PE100 SDR 13.5 (or 100mm D.I.) water main on the Rath Lane and also the laying of 2300m of 315mm PE 100 SDR 13.5 (or 250mm D.I.) water main on Kileek Lane.

The proposed route of the new w/main is on the opposite side of the road to the existing w/main.

The water main is to be laid in sections up to 1000m long, tested, made live and then the domestic and non-domestic connections for the section are to be completed.
