Larsen Scoops Two Irish Projects

One of Ireland's leading specialist contractors has secured two significant refurbishment and restoration contracts.

Larsen Contracts have an unrivalled track record in concrete repair works over the last twenty five years in Great Britain and Ireland.

Substantial façade repair and refurbishment contracts have been completed for Dublin City Council, ESB, Progressive House in Belfast City Centre and Odlums flour mill demonstrate Larsen’s expertise in this field.

Larsen Contracts were awarded the contract to refurbish two water towers for Limerick County Council at Bruff and Croom earlier this year. Larsen are fulfilling the duties of PSCS with White Young Green acting as the client’s representative.

The €250,000.00 contract started on site earlier this year with a ten week duration. Work on both towers is running concurrently to limit disruption to local water supply.

The scope of the work includes full internal and external concrete repair to the towers. The internal finish is a hot sprayed polyurethane , waterproof, flexible lining system with the external concrete elements finished with an elastomeric, anti-carbonation protective coating system.

Secondly, Larsen Contracts recently commenced work on the concrete repair at a number of Territorial Army bases in Northern Ireland. Larsen Contracts tendered on a traditional concrete repair specification, together with an alternative proposal for a cathodic protection system. Our proposal proved to be economically advantageous providing the client with a broader scope of works and an increased life expectancy.

Repairs to the 1970s structures have been progressing with the use of embedded galvanic anodes and traditional mortar repair methods combined with a ‘natural recurring’ cement-based, anti-carbonation coating. Works are approaching completion at present.

Furthermore, over the last twenty five years, concrete repair technicians from Larsen Contracts have worked with consulting engineers on the investigation and diagnosis of defects and repair solutions for reinforced concrete bridge structures on motorways and national roads, shopping centres, schools and oil berth jetties.

"Our experience in solving problems enables us to provide accurate assessments of what the repairs can entail which lead to repair proposals tailored to the needs of each project," a company spokesman said.
