Westport Gets €1.5m Retail Development

The main contractor has now been appointed for works involved with the Connacht Gold Co-Operative Society retail development on a site at Monamore, Westport, Co. Mayo.

Brendan Byrne and Son Ltd will construct the €1.5m retail scheme comprising a shop, a garden centre, store and goods yard.

The plans, drawn up by Waldron and Associates, detail the demolition of the existing mart building and subsequent construction of a retail premises consisting of a shop, a garden centre, a store and goods yard, together with all ancillary site works and services.

Amended plans (11/134) were approved by Mayo County Council on April 19, 2011 for alterations to the approved elevations and work commenced on site early July, with the contract period due to be in the region of 10 months. Sub-contractors will be appointed in due course.
