A livestock sales company has been given the green light to build a new state of the art facility in Markethill.
Markethill Livestock Sales has successfully obtained permission to relocate to a new 15 acre site at Cladymilltown Road in the town.
The proposals outlined for the new site include sales and storage buildings, offices, livestock yards and a security and weighbridge building.
Markethill Livestock Sales is a well-known weekly cattle and sheep market and has been at its current location on Mainstreet of Markethill for over 40 years.
While permission has been granted, Markethill Livestock Sales owner Hampton Hewitt stressed the move will not be imminent and the current market is expected to continue operating at its present location for the foreseeable future.
Welcoming Planning Service's approval for the new site, which is half a mile from the town boundary, Mr Hewitt said: "I am very pleased to have secured planning permission. It now means if we decide to relocate, one major obstacle has been overcome"
