Care Facility Gets Go-Ahead

A multi-million euro care facility has been given the green light despite planning permission being refused by Limerick County Council.

According to the Limerick Leader An Bord Pleanala has given the go-ahead for the construction of a primary care facility in Kilmallock.

Local authorities rejected the planning application last year. They said that the relocation of existing services from the town centre to the site "would detract from the vitality and viability of the town centre".

However, An Bord Pleanala has over-ruled the council's decision and granted permission.

The two storey centre which will measure a total area of 2,494sqm and will be located at Kilmallock Business Park on the Bruree road.

It will consist of a general practitioners care centre, regional primary care centre, canteen for building users and gymnasium and entrance atrium on the ground floor. Meanwhile, a regional primary care centre, sports clinic and consultants suites are to be located on the first floor, while 70 car spaces are to serve the new centre.
