Conditional planning permission has been awarded to allow the construction of a budget hotel in Limerick.
Limerick County Council gave their nod of approval to the scheme which will see a 50 bedroom hotel constructed beside the Unicorn Bar in Dooradoyle.
According to the Limerick Leader Anne Greene sought the permission which also includes an under ground car park.
Two houses between the bar and roundabout of St Paul’s Church will have to be demolished to facilitate the project.
The hotel is to provide American style semi-catering rooms, as well as a gym. The Unicorn will act as the main bar and restaurant area of the hotel.
The conditional agreement has been reached despite several objections to the development.
It is estimated that the hotel and other relevant works will cost in the region of €4m.
