SDLP Belfast City Councillor has welcomed a positive response from the Roads Service to complaints he raised on behalf of residents in the Ormeau Road/Sunnyside Street area of his ward who were affected by poor street maintenance.

Pat McCarthy said: "I am pleased to have received a positive response from the South Belfast section of the Roads Service, informing me that remedial work was being undertaken in that area, including road resurfacing, installation of further storm gulleys and other running repairs.

"I would like to thank them for promising swift action in response to this SDLP intervention on behalf of our residents."

He also urged other residents to make their views known if there are street and footpath maintenance problems in their area.
