Social Development Minister, Nelson McCausland, today announced plans to invest over £1.1 million for the redevelopment of housing in the Kilcooley Estate in Bangor.
The redevelopment will see 24 flats at Kilclief Gardens demolished and replaced by a more sustainable mix of new accommodation. The flats are bleak and unpopular attracting an element that used them as cover for anti-social behaviour.
Minister McCausland said: "This is an important day for the people of Kilcooley Estate. The building of these new townhouses will remove the stigma associated with the current flats and provide a much better housing mix in the area."
The announcement was made after Minister McCausland gave full approval to the Housing Executive's proposals to redevelop this part of Kilcooley Estate.
