South Dublin County Council, in collaboration with Engineers Ireland, presents the launch of Engineers Week 27 Feb - 4 March by Mayor Caitríona Jones in the presence of Brian Hayes T.D., Minister of State for Public Service Reform and the Office of Public Works at RUA RED South Dublin Arts Centre Tallaght on Monday 27 February at 10am.
Engineers Week is a nationwide event coordinated by Engineers Ireland as part of their STEPS to Engineering Programme. This year's theme is entitled 'Connecting our Lives'.
The aim of the 'Week' is to positively promote engineering as a career and to create an awareness of the wonderful, life-enhancing and exciting challenges that engineers are involved in and responsible for.
It is a week of fun-packed activities and workshops for primary cycle students and will be attended by over a thousand young people from local schools. The students will have an opportunity to talk to professional engineers from South Dublin County Council about what engineers do and what an important part they will play in revitalizing the economy. In addition, for the first time ever, this year’s activities will include a number of tours of the Tallaght Stadium Facility.
