Ulster Unionist MLA Tom Elliott has hailed the fracking report and said his party is committed to protecting the people and the area, ensuring they do not come to any harm.
The UUP also held a range of meetings with various groups and individuals and is currently engaged in a consultation process regarding fracking.
Mr Elliott said: "We have to balance the need to take advantage of natural resources - and there is no doubt that the ability to achieve a safe local energy source would be a real plus point – with the need to ensure public safety.
"The bottom line is that if, and I stress if, fracking can take place in a safe matter which does not pose a threat to local residents and local geology then it is something which should be considered.
If the science demonstrates that fracking would pose a threat, then in the interests of local people and the vital agriculture and tourist industries I would obviously oppose it.
Ultimately we must be in a position to make an informed decision based on the facts and the evidence. We continue to gather that information, facts and evidence - Widespread public safety will remain the number one priority."
