The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has began working on Phase 2 of Kerdiffstown site investigation works.
Three rigs are drilling a series of boreholes on and adjacent to the landfill site. The boreholes will help the EPA to gather more data on the site and, combined with the recent geophysical survey, samples from these new boreholes will increase our knowledge of the site and inform the design of the site remediation.
This phase of the site investigation will involve drilling holes deep into the landfill and drilling operations may generate some odour. The EPA and its contractors will be working hard to minimise these odours.
The drilling is scheduled to last for four to six weeks.
