The aims of the Dromore revitalisation project are to enhance and complement work already completed in the town and improve the visual appearance of boarded up or vacant properties and sites. It is hoped that in turn, this will strengthen and improve existing retail provision and promote Dromore as a place to shop and a place that visitors will wish to spend time.

Mr McCausland said: "Dromore is a beautiful and historic town with distinct architecture and townscape character, but like many other town and city centres today, it is a victim of reduced consumer spending. My Department is committed to developing revitalisation projects throughout Northern Ireland, aimed at rejuvenating town centres, to harmonise with existing character and provide a hub, benefiting businesses, retailers, residents and visitors alike.
"I am encouraged by the commitment of all involved so far in making this project work including Banbridge District Council, Dromore Chamber of Commerce and Dromore Partnership, along with the concerted efforts of the local businesses. During my visit I have been brought up to date with progress and am enthused by the dedication of all involved and look forward to my next visit to see Dromore town and how it has benefited from this regeneration initiative."
