Murphy Surveys Invests In Leica Geosystems Technology

Murphy Surveys has recently invested in the latest Leica Geosystems technology with Leica Viva TS15 imaging Total Stations, Leica GS15 Dual Frequency GNSS Receivers and Leica CS15 controllers.

Established in 1983, Murphy Surveys has become one of the largest Survey organisations in Ireland, providing cost-effective survey solutions to both public and private organisations in the UK and Ireland, across a number of sectors.

Their recent success in winning one of the largest survey contracts ever let in Ireland provided the catalyst for upgrading and expanding their existing fleet of survey instrumentation.

Purchased through Leica Geosystems distribution partner, Survey Instrument Services, the Leica Viva Solution was chosen as it presented the best and most effective solution for River Surveys by surveyors working on the CFRAMS (Catchment Flood Risk Assessment and Management Study) project in Ireland. It has provided complete flexibility through:

• Leica SmartPole - Providing full TPS / GNSS integration

• Leica Viva TS15i imaging Total Station - Providing geo-referenced photo documentation augmented with capture, sketch and link capability.

• Leica Exchange - Delivering significant benefits and savings through optimised workflow and data transfer from field to office and between teams in a secure manner using Leica Geosystem’s trusted services.

The Leica Viva TS15i total station was chosen as it provides the speed and efficiency required by the surveyors in the field. With its advanced imaging capability and unique capture-sketch-link functionality, images are captured, enhanced with sketching and linked to any point of interest quickly. Together with its reflectorless capability and PowerSearch functionality, the Leica TS15i is now the surveyors ‘first choice’ imaging instrument.

In addition, the Leica Viva GS15 Dual Frequency GNSS receivers with Leica Viva CS15 controllers provides the flexibility to integrate with the Leica Total Stations to provide a SmartPole solution but also provides an efficient and accurate GNSS solution with full data integrity through Leica Geosystems’ unique SmartCheck, SmartTrack and SmartRTK solutions.

Using Leica Exchange to manage the surveyed data, the information is transferred in a secure manner, quickly and easily between the office and the field and between field teams. This has provided major efficiency and time savings on the project.

Mike Skicko, Leica Geosystems Regional Manager commented: "By working closely with Murphy Surveys to fully understand the extent of the project and the required deliverables, Leica Geosystems and Survey Instrument Services were able to tailor a solution to meet the needs of not only the project but the future requirements of Murphy Surveys. Leica Geosystems and Survey Instrument Services are pleased to have been chosen as a ‘business partner’ of Murphy Surveys and we look forward to working closely with them for many years to come."

Raymond Murphy, Managing Director at Murphy Surveys Ltd said: "Murphy Surveys is all about accuracy. Our clients depend on us to produce perfect results, every time. The secret to our success over the years has simply been, quality. Leica Geosystems allows us to give our clients that efficiency and reliability. It allows Murphy Surveys to galvanize the trust our clients place in us. Quite simply, we must deliver accurate measurement that we can stand over. Our investment in Leica Geosystems solutions allows us to better serve our clients. We do this through increased productivity giving our clients precision measurement together with value for money."
