Smith Edison Named Ireland's Best Green Commercial

The Smith Edison is now officially Irelands leading electric commercial vehicle, having scooped the top award at the Fleet Transport Awards 2013, sponsored by ESB e Cars.

The 10th annual Fleet Transport Irish Truck of the Year Awards were announced at a gala dinner held at Citywest Hotel Dublin, which was attended by 700 representatives from the road transport industry. Guest speaker was Mr. Pat Rabbitte T.D. Minister for Communications, Energy & Natural Resources.

The Smith Edison is a full electric vehicle, based on the Ford Transit which is available in van, cab/chassis and minibus variants. In 2010, the award went to the Smith Newton, a full electric truck available in 7.5, 10 & 12 tonne models.

Accepting the award, David Mullen MD of Electric Vehicles Ireland, distributor of Smith Electric Vehicles in Ireland, were delighted to receive this prestigious award, praised SEAI, an organisation under the stewardship of Minister Rabbitte and also ESB e Cars, for their promotion of the use of Electric Vehicles in Ireland.
