Transport Minister Danny Kennedy announced the start of a £215,000 resurfacing scheme on the A57 Antrim Road.
The work is due to begin on 28 January 2013 between Dungonnell Road and Airport Road.
The Minister said: "The resurfacing works will increase the structural strength and improve the running surface of the road."
To help minimise any inconvenience to local businesses including the Belfast International Airport traffic and the travelling public the majority of this work is programmed to be completed using lane closures.
Lane closures will commence on 28 January 2013 and continue until 23 February 2013. During lane closures two-way traffic flow will be maintained.
A full closure of the Antrim Road will be in place between 11-14 February and 18-22 February to allow final surfacing and all traffic will be diverted using the advertised diversion.
The scheme is expected to be completed on 23 February 2013.
