Transport Minister Danny Kennedy has commended Roads Service and its contractors for the successful completion of road schemes during 2012/2013.
Mr Kennedy said: "Throughout Roads Service my Department invested over £100million in structural maintenance, improving the road infrastructure across Northern Ireland in the last financial year.
"In particular in the Armagh district, despite ever increasing demands on budgets, Roads Service invested over £8.3million delivering maintenance works.
"Roads Service is using its available resources highly effectively and continues to deliver quality public services in Armagh City and District Council and across Northern Ireland."
Network Maintenance Manager Arnold Hamilton outlined some of the other significant areas of work completed by the Division, including collision remedial schemes on the A27 Tandragee to Newry Road at Jackson’s Corner; A29 Keady Road at the junction with Bachelors Walk and A29 Keady Road at Tassagh Hall and Girvan’s Bridge. The schemes aim to improve driver safety and assist traffic progression along these main routes.
