Improvement Scheme Announced For L'Derry

Roads Minister Danny Kennedy has announced that a £370,000 road junction improvement scheme on Northland Road and Springtown Road in L'Derry will begin in July 2013.

Work is scheduled to start on Wednesday 24 July and is expected to be completed by Sunday 1 September 2013.

Mr Kennedy said: "The installation of traffic signals and the widening of the carriageway will significantly improve the flow of traffic at this busy junction. The scheme also includes the introduction of additional crossing points making it safer for pedestrian and cyclists.

"Road users will quickly realise the benefits, especially during peak traffic flow times."

Due to the available road width along Northland Road and the need to protect the safety of road users and contractors, it will be necessary to operate temporary traffic management at times through the construction phase of the scheme.
