The government have been urged to include specific emission reduction targets within its climate change legislation.

An Taisce told Joint Oireachtas Committee on the Environment, Culture and Gaeltacht that without specific targets, it is impossible to track the intention of legislation through to its actual outcome.

The national trust organisation addressed the committee in regards to its Climate Action and Low-Carbon Development Bill.

The proposed Bill aims to establish a sustainable environmental and economic will addressing how the dangers of carbon emissions and climate change.

An Taisce raised their concerns over a lack of specific carbon reduction targets within the Bill.
