Transport Minister Danny Kennedy has announced that work on a £290,000 resurfacing scheme in Downpatrick is now set to begin.
Resurfacing of a 700m stretch of the B176 Killough Road between the junction at Ardglass Road and the area adjacent to St. Colmcille's Church will begin on 29 July with work expected to be completed by Friday 9 August.
Mr Kennedy said: "This £290,000 scheme represents a significant investment in the roads infrastructure in the Downpatrick area.
"Once work is complete, road users will quickly realise the long term benefits from the new road surface along the stretch."
Temporary road closures will be necessary with through-traffic being diverted from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday and from 9am to 2pm on Saturday 3 August. Diversions will be via the B1 Ardglass Road and U251 Flying Horse Road. All diversions will be clearly signposted.
