Alliance health spokesperson, Kieran McCarthy MLA, has said repairing problems with the pipework at the new critical care unit at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast must be a top priority.
Mr McCarthy was speaking after it was revealed the opening of the new £150m critical care unit would be delayed after damage to the pipes was detected.
Mr McCarthy MLA said: "I am extremely worried at the news that the new critical care unit at the Royal Victoria Hospital will now be delayed.
"Having already missed its initial handover deadline in November 2012, this latest delay means the Trust will not take ownership of the facility until 2014, a delay which is unacceptable."
