Ulster Unionist Assembly member for Fermanagh & South Tyrone, Tom Elliott MLA, has welcomed the announcement by Regional Development Minister, Danny Kennedy that £180,000 is to be spent on the busy traffic routes through Dungannon town.

Mr Elliott said: "My own local constituency office is in Brooke Street, Dungannon and I have pushed for some considerable length of time that these arterial routes through Dungannon are in need of significant repairs and the scheme is to include resurfacing on Wellington Road, Milltown Road and Railway Road.

"Many of these roads have been subject to other service work such as laying of new water mains over recent times and are in need of major resurfacing which should greatly improve road structure for local residents and users and bring these roads up to the required standards for modern traffic flows.

"I am pleased that much of the work will be completely at the start of school terms and I am assured by Roads Service that much of the work will be completed without road closures, until the final surfacing work on 9th September 2013. I have requested that improvements be made at the mini-roundabout in Milltown to help avoid road accidents at this busy junction and road markings should be reinstated on these routes."
