Lisburn Road To Be Resurfaced

A resurfacing scheme is due to start on Monday 30 September on the Lisburn Road, Belfast.

The £320,000 scheme involves the resurfacing of the carriageway on the Lisburn Road, between Ulsterville Avenue and Windsor Park, and is expected to take approximately four weeks to complete.

The works on the road will be carried out in a number of phases.

Initially, work will be undertaken off-peak during the working week using lane closures. Two-way traffic flow will be maintained on the Lisburn Road.

Overnight road closures are then programmed for four consecutive nights from Monday 7 October. A diversion route will be signed using Bradbury Place, University Road, Malone Road and Balmoral Avenue.

Finally, work will be carried out over three weekends in October (12/13, 19/20 and 27) in order to enable the final surfacing to be laid on the carriageway. This work will be carried out using a combination of road closures and lane closures and, when appropriate, a diversion route will again be signed using Bradbury Place, University Road, Malone Road and Balmoral Avenue.

Transport Minister, Danny Kennedy said: "The scheme will improve the quality of the carriageway on this busy route."
