Sinn Féin's Environment Spokesperson Deputy Brian Stanley has requested that the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Environment invite the Dublin City Manager, Owen Keegan, to the next available committee meeting in order to discuss the proposed Poolbeg Incinerator.
Deputy Stanley stated: "I have written to the Chair of the Committee requesting we invite the City Manager to attend the committee. I think it would be appropriate for this committee to discuss the matter with the relevant City Manager in light of the recent revelations concerning the letter from the EU Commission and expenditure to date on this project.
"The plans for this incinerator were flawed from the very beginning. It is scandalous that this project has cost the public €30m to date on public relations especially in a time when hard-pressed families are being over-burdened with the cost of the so-called local property tax."
