The Ardavon Park complex in North Belfast was awarded the Ellen McGowan trophy for best kept Housing Executive area at this year's Northern Ireland Amenity Council's Best Kept Towns, Villages and Housing Area Awards.
The complex was built in 1975 and is located just off the Somerton Road in North Belfast. It consists of 42 self-contained units and a community day facility which houses a common room for residents as well as a guest bedroom.
North Belfast Area Manager Malachy McKinney was delighted with the award which he feels is very much down to the partnership with residents.
He explained: "The Housing Executive carried out major improvements to the complex five years ago and this work has been complemented over the years with substantial environmental improvements.
"But we realise that if an improvement scheme like this is to be really successful you need to have the community on board and I'm delighted to say that is definitely the case in Ardavon Park. It is clear from the judges' comments that residents take a lot of pride, not only in their individual homes but the surrounding area as well."
