Minister for Trade and Development, Joe Costello T.D. has officially opened Chevron Training & Recruitment's inaugural Training Centre in Lagos.
Based in Wexford, Chevron Training & Recruitment specialise in the provision of construction skills training to international learners. Ireland is renowned globally for providing a superior level of construction training ensuring that Irish construction workers are highly sought after by employers throughout the world.
In February 2013 Chevron Training & Recruitment partnered with Nigerian company ETIWA Vocational Training to provide construction workers in Nigeria with international best-practise training. The partnership will see Chevron Training and Recruitment train 1000 constructions workers in Nigeria in a deal worth €3m over three years.
Speaking from Lagos where he is leading the first ever Enterprise Ireland trade mission to Nigeria, Minister Costello said: "As part of the first major trade mission to Nigeria, I am delighted to officially open the Chevron Technical training facility in Lagos and welcome the partnership that has been established with ETIWA.
"Ireland has a strong international reputation as a centre of quality education and training which is a good match for the needs of Nigeria's growing economy. I believe that this partnership will flourish and contribute in a very real way to supplying skilled workers to the Nigerian economy."
