Education Minister, John O'Dowd and Social Development Minister, Nelson McCausland have officially opened St Malachy's Youth Centre, Belfast, following a £1.6m upgrade.
Minister O'Dowd said: "St Malachy's Youth Centre provides a setting where young people can meet, make friends and take part in structured activities in a safe and welcoming environment. It is my aim that all young people have access to a wide range of opportunities and the appropriate support to enable them to build their skills and confidence.
"The young people at St Malachy's are already benefiting from such opportunities and the new facilities will only enhance that experience further."
Commenting on his recent funding announcement for the youth sector, the Minister said: "This is an exciting time for the youth sector with my recent announcement of £12million for 53 capital works projects in the voluntary sector. I believe this investment will help make a real difference to educational and lifelong outcomes for the young people."
